
WORKSHOPS At CHI & CO 2013
This new course at Chi and Co is ideal for those new to yoga or returning after a period of not practicing. The perfect follow on to the recent beginner’s workshops. A foundational series of gentle yoga classes focusing on core skills, with personal attention and instruction on correct alignment and the use of breath. We will work at a pace that ensures practical and constructive learning of the essential elements that underpin good yoga practice over the five weeks; posture, breath, flexibility and balance. This new workshop will be ideal for those new to yoga or wishing to improve their knowledge and basic skills. We will take time to explore some of the most popular yoga postures in detail allowing you to get more out of your current class or the confidence to start one. We will cover many of the basics including Salute to the Sun A, some key standing and seated postures plus a balance, back bend and everyone’s favourite savasana/relaxation. We will also cover basic yogic breathing, look at bandha’s - what they are and how to do them and find out about pranayama and learn how to do one. Its the time of year where its not quite the full energy of summer but a vital time of preparation, which is done by working with flexibility and movement to gently warm the connective tissue , so you can effortlessly to conduct he vital energy needed for the summer months. Pericardium and triple heater are the organs for this time.

This time of year is September/October , late summer is the season to return to, and operate from, a strong sense of centre and self-worth. Like the soil that feeds us and the ground that locates us in space, the earth element imparts stability, the power to think, nurture and sustain. The linked organs are the Stomach and Spleen.
This time of year is November/December, although in the traditional four season calendar it would begin on the 22nd or 23rd of September! Metal is the element of autumn, a time of consolidation; keeping what is of value and letting go of the rest. This element has the capacity to shape expectations. The linked organs are the Lung and Large Intestine.
